NBA Draft: Pops Menshah-Bonsu

College: George Washington

Class: Senior

Stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=11470

Position: PF

Height: 6’9”

Weight: 240lbs

Accolades: A-10 Most Improved Player (04), A-10 All-Championship Team (05),  A-10 All-Conference Second Team (05)

Scouting Report: A defensive specialist who swats shots left and right.  A great leaper who can punish the rim in the post.

Strengths: Shot blocking.  Pops goes after every shot, blocking more than his share and altering many others.  Also has great springs and can attack the rim.

Weaknesses:  Offense and rebounding.  Doesn’t score a particularly high number of points (even in the A-10).  His rebounding numbers are also mediocre for a big man.  Very foul prone due to his all out aggression on defense – he doesn’t know how to take the foot off the pedal when he can’t afford to pick up another foul.

Projected 2006 Draft Range: Late second round – undrafted

Consensus:  Pops athleticism and shot blocking ability will be his only ticket to the pros.  His offensive game is still too unpolished at this point for him to be a high draft pick.  He could be a sleeper pick late in the second round if down the road he can add to his offensive repertoire and learn how to stay out of foul trouble.
