AP Top 25 Commentary: Saint Mary's Replaces Gonzaga
AP Top 25 Commentary: Syracuse remained #1 yet again after double-digit wins over Villanova and Providence. The Orange have only beaten two ranked teams (both at home), Florida, who fell to 17th this week, and Marquette.
Gonzaga was replaced in the poll by Saint Mary's, who gave the Bulldogs a beatdown in Moraga. With 64 votes, Gonzaga is still in the mix to reenter the poll with a couple solid weeks. The other team exiting the poll was Seton Hall, who blew a late lead on the road to South Florida.
North Carolina fell to 8th after getting crushed on the road at Florida St. The loss was so bad that one lone voter placed FSU in the Top 25 despite having 6 losses. For topping Michigan St, Northwestern also received a vote, and the rogue Wagner fan continued to support the Seahawks.
Louisville, who fell to 41st in the RPI after getting crushed by Providence earlier in the week, somehow hung onto the 23rd spot.
