Big 12 Player of the Week: Cory Higgins
It's also the first Big 12 Player of the Week honor for a CU student-athlete since the 2005-06 season when Richard Roby earned back-to-back honors.
Higgins led the Buffaloes in their lone game last Wednesday, a 75-56 victory over in-state rival Colorado State.
The Danville, Calif. native, finished with a game- and career-high 33 points, connecting on 11-of-16 (.688) from the field. He had 28 points in the second half on 9-of-10 shooting, the third-best point total for a half in school history.
The 33 points overall were the most scored at the Coors Events Center since Michel Morandais netted 33 versus Missouri on Feb. 22, 2002. Higgins also established career bests in field goals made (11), field goals attempted (16) and 3-pointers made (3).
Higgins leads CU this season with 18.4 points per game, in addition to rebounding (6.0 rpg.) and steals (1.7 spg.).
The Buffaloes (4-3) are idle until this Friday, Dec. 19 when they take on Prairie View A&M (3-5) for an 8 p.m. start at the Coors Events Center.
