Tuesday will offer some intriguing matchups with the marquee game likely being Maryland taking on Cincinnati in a Maui Invitational semifinal. The Bearcats were able to use their quickness to disrupt Vanderbilt on Monday, winning 67-58 thanks to sixteen points from Yancy Gates and a defensive effort that held the Commodores to 27.5% from the field. Deonta Vaughn played just fifteen minutes in the win but they're going to need more from him and the other guards (Cashmere Wright was 2-for-13 from the field) if they're to take care of Greivis Vasquez and company. Landon Milbourne is another active body for the Terps, who will need to speed the game up with their defense in order to cover for their lack of size.
Another game to keep an eye on will be #3 Texas taking on Pittsburgh in the final of the CBE Classic in Kansas City. The Longhorns, despite the presence of youngsters such as Jordan Hamilton and Avery Bradley, are essentially a known quantity to this point in the season. Pitt, on the other hand, has Ashton Gibbs running the show following the graduation of Levance Fields. They're also replacing Sam Young and DeJuan Blair but the way in which the Panthers defend make Jamie Dixon's team a candidate to exceed expectations in the Big East.

Cincinnati over Maryland: Not really going out on a limb here but I like the Bearcats' bulk inside to win out in Maui. Yancy Gates is a handful for anyone and the Bearcats also have depth up front, a luxury that the Terrapins don't. If Maryland can turn this into a track meet and hold their own on the glass they can win, but I don't see Cashmere Wright playing the way he did against Vanderbilt.
