ArizonaDespite college football taking all the headlines over the weekend, there was a terrific week in the college basketball world, including conference vs. conference battles and plenty of marquee showdowns. In addition to the aforementioned team match-ups, there were outstanding individual performances from coast to coast. Many of the top players are beginning to separate themselves from the pack, and those same players continue to produce impressive weeks on a consistent basis. Although the college football season is winding down and conference championship games are just around the corner, college basketball ruled the holiday week. With plenty of tournaments and marquee match-ups on every night, fans who weren’t interested in this season yet definitely had a chance to get in the swing of things. At the same time, there was certainly an abundance of tremendous individual performances, including impressive weeks from the usual suspects: Chase Budinger, Sean Singletary, Tyler Hansbrough, Kevin Love, Eric Gordon, Michael Beasley, among others.

CHN Player of the Week: Jon Brockman

While last week’s Player of the Week decision was a no-brainer – Kansas State’s Michael Beasley had 62 points and 38 rebounds in the first two games of his career – it wasn’t the same this time. There were some noteworthy single-game performances, like Beasley going off for 28 and 22, Cincinnati’s Deonta Vaughn hit nine three-pointers and had 36 points and Tennessee-Martin’s Lester Hudson had a quadruple-double. However, the one player who had several consistently good games was Washington’s Jon Brockman.

Player of the Week: Michael Beasley

The first Player of the Week for the 2007-08 season is a no-brainer. Kansas State's Michael Beasley got off to one of the best starts in college basketball history by averaging 31 points and 19 rebounds per game in two Wildcat wins. Beasley's opponents, Sacramento State and Pittsburgh State (a D2 team), won't wow you with talent.. but did I mention he averaged 31 and 19 per game?
