Ty Proffitt Leaves Notre Dame
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey has announced that sophomore guard Ty Proffitt (London, Ky.) has left the basketball program, withdrawn from the University and will transfer to another school.
As a freshman in 2007-08, Proffitt appeared in eight contests and averaged 1.0 points and 0.4 rebounds.
Former Trojan Angelo Johnson Transfers to Southern Miss
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Former USC standout Angelo Johnson has transferred to Southern Miss, head coach Larry Eustachy announced Wednesday afternoon. Johnson, a point guard, will have to sit out this year due to the NCAA's transfer rules, but will be allowed to practice with the team.
A three-star prospect out of high school by Rivals.com, Johnson will have three years of eligibility remaining after playing his freshman season with the Trojans.
San Francisco Adds Manhattan Transfer Rashad Green
(San Francisco) - Rashad Green, a 6-4, 195 pound wing from Babylon, New York has signed a scholarship agreement to play basketball at the University of San Francisco, as announced today by head coach Rex Walters. Under NCAA transfer rules, Green will sit out the entire 2008-09 season after completing a successful freshman season at Manhattan in 2007-08.
Georgia Tech Adds Transfer Bassirou Dieng
ATLANTA - Bassirou Dieng, who played basketball the last two seasons at St. Francis University (Pa.) and has been accepted into Georgia Tech's International Affairs graduate program, has been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA to play for the Yellow Jackets' basketball team in the 2008-09 season.

LBSU Signs Former Providence G Dwain Williams
Long Beach, Calif.--Long Beach State Head Men’s Basketball Coach Dan Monson announced today that Dwain Williams (Guard, 6-0, 170, San Diego, Calif., Providence College, Vista Murrieta HS) signed a National Letter-of-Intent. Williams, who attended Providence College for two years, will have two years of eligibility remaining with the 49ers.
“Dwain Williams is a great addition to our program,” said Monson. “His success in the Big East Conference demonstrates that he is a proven high-level point guard that will help solidify our backcourt.”
Lots of changes at Marist...and some other Northeast news
Well, today marks the beginning of the Spring Signing Period, and many fans are awaiting the decision of guard Tyreke Evans. The explosive prerimeter player is said to be leaning in the direction of Memphis, and that's who I'd expect him to sign with due to the departure of Derrick Rose. But the school with the most going on in recent days has to be Marist, who will any day be gaining a head coach, but they've already lost two players.
