Now that the presents have been unwrapped and many of you are rushing to stores for post-Christmas deals, it's time for college football to blitz into the new year with a glut of games. You can argue all day about the merits of thirty-four bowl games (personally, I think it's too many), but at the least some of these games offer momentary diversions from college basketball, which in many cases is still a week or so away from conference play.

20 Random Rants, Thoughts, and Observations from the Week in College Basketball by CollegeHoops.net Editor Shawn Siegel:
1 - Most college basketball teams are guard oriented, but Leonard Hamilton didn't get the memo. Outside of Toney Douglas, FSU has virtually no one of much worth in the backcourt. Douglas is an underrated player, but there's too much pressure on him.
Editor's Early Preview (12/15):
No, that is not a misprint.. Pittsburgh is actually playing a road game. Crazy concept. The undefeated Panthers head to FSU to face a Seminoles squad that gets little respect despite a gaudy record. Pitt hasn't even been tested this season, 13 points (against Texas Tech) is their closest margin of victory. I can't imagine FSU pulling off the upset here unless Toney Douglas has a career night.
