This game's been circled on the calendar for a lot of college basketball fans since the season began, myself included. Two highly-ranked, talent-laden, exciting and fast-paced teams meet in a game that looks to have serious ramifications for the ACC title race and NCAA seeding when #5 North Carolina (14-1, 0-1) travels to Winston Salem to face #3 Wake Forest (13-0).

We’re officially done with the college football season, meaning my man crush on Tim Tebow can subside, and also we can now all turn our full attention to college hoops.  Some surprises early in conference play (BC over UNC??) have made these early-conference match-ups that much more important for a few teams. GameNight: Wake Forest at Richmond

December 19th, 2008
Dec 19 2008 - 7:00pm

Editor's Early Preview (12/15):

While Wake Forest might simply have too much talent for Richmond, the Spiders rarely find themselves trailing by double digits due to solid coaching and quality team play.  Wake received a lot of off-season publicity due to their hyped freshmen, but it has been a returnee (Jeff Teague) who leads the way. Wake is the favorite, but the score might be closer than you think.

ACC Basketball: 5 Things We've Learned So Far

November 25th, 2008

The first two weeks of the college basketball season are incredibly important for any team regardless of the size of the program or the team's preseason expectations. For teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference, almost every opponent faced thus far is one that is expected to be defeated. While there is not a lot that can be derived from a handful of performances, here are some early impressions of the ACC that are expected to remain true for the entire season.

College Football: Saturday Touchdowns

November 23rd, 2008

Heading into this Saturday it seemed like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were well on their way to a seventh victory and a berth in either the Gator or Sun Bowl. All they had to do was beat Syracuse, playing for a recently dismissed head coach in Greg Robinson and dead last in the Big East. But while the Orange haven't played particularly well this season, you can't accuse this team of quitting. What ensued was one of the more stunning results of the day, with Syracuse stunning the Irish 24-23 on a late touchdown pass. Where do the Irish go from here?
