Rather quiet week in college basketball land.. and in the sports world in general. We chug along with our Top 144 preview, as #92 Seton Hall went online today.
I can't divulge who our #1 team will ultimately be.. but if I gave you 3 or 4 choices, you'd almost certainly be able to pick the team. Its a standard pick, one of the frontrunners, Kansas, UNC, Memphis, UCLA, etc. CHN also projected Florida as last year's NCAA Tournament winners.. a lame, boring pick, but the correct one.
Seton Hall Pirates
Overall Rank: #92
According to today's Newark Star-Ledger, Seton Hall has reached agreement with the new Prudential Center in Newark, meaning that their 26-year run of playing at the Continental Airlines Arena will come to an end. While negotiations have not been finalized, the New Jersey Devils (primary tenants of the new arena) and Seton Hall have found common ground in areas such as weekend scheduling, a major sticking point early in the negotiation process.
Breaking down the Big East Rookie of the Year contenders.. including Scottie Reynolds, Eugene Harvey, Edgar Sosa and more.
Jeff Adrien, Jeff Green, and Brian Laing are atop Eric Silver's 2007 Big East Power Forward ranking.
With a slate full of games from the Big Ten and Big East, you'd expect to only have to concentrate on scores Wednesday night. Well, that all went out the window when Boston College announced that center Sean Williams and forward Akida McLain were dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules. Further details should be released in the coming days, but going into Littlejohn Coliseum to face an angry group of Clemson Tigers shorthanded is not a good way to spend your Saturday. The dismissed pair have been in Coach Al Skinenr's doghouse in the past for behavioral reasons, having missed games the past two seasons as a result. Those transgressions were taken care of at the beginning of each season, however, and that's what makes this episode all the more surprising.
