Jon Teitel's "Forgotten Legends" Series: UAB's Donell Taylor
Recently CHN writer Jon Teitel spent some time with former UAB player Donell Taylor, who went on to play professional basketball after helping lead the Blazers to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances in 2004 and 2005. His identical twin brother Ronell was also on the team, and they combined for one of the best fast break baskets in recent tournament history in their second round win over Kentucky in 2004. College Hoops Saturday Recap: Lucas Leads Spartans to Important Win
Saturday night's matchup between Illinois and Michigan State didn't set up to be the marquee meeting expected when the season began, but it definitely didn't lack for importance with both teams needing wins to ensure an NCAA Tournament appearance. And in a battle of seniors who needed to step up it was Kalin Lucas who came through, scoring 25 points in Michigan State's 71-67 win over the Illini.
College Hoops Wednesday Recap: Duke Comes Back to Beat North Carolina
The question going into Wednesday's matchup between rivals North Carolina and Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium was how the young Tar Heels would respond to the atmosphere. They responded quite well in the first half, scoring the first seven points of the game and leading by as many as 16 points before taking a 43-29 lead into the locker room. If anything the first half was a case of the more experienced Blue Devils being caught up in the moment, as getting away from the things they do best in addition to failing to truly compete inside landed them in the early hole.
College Hoops Saturday Recap: Aggies Defend Reed Arena
Many expected the matchup between #12 Missouri and #13 Texas A&M to be a thriller and it most certainly didn't disappoint, requiring an extra five minutes before rendering a verdict. Khris Middleton was outstanding for the Aggies, scoring 28 points and grabbing seven rebounds as Mark Turgeon's team remained undefeated in Big 12 play with a 91-89 overtime victory. Five A&M players reached double figures but it was Middleton who made the difference, scoring 11 points in the extra session to lead the way.

In the latest installment in his "Forgotten Legends" interview series CHN writer Jon Teitel spent some time with Lester Lyons, who ranks second in East Carolina history with 1,825 points. But Lyons, who scored 27 points in the Pirates' 1993 NCAA Tournament loss to eventual national champion North Carolina, wasn't solely about scoring as he still leads ECU in career steals with 235. Lyons is now the head basketball coach at his high school alma mater in North Carolina.
