Wright St Hold On to 64-63 Win over Green Bay

March 1st, 2009

DAYTON - Wright State coach Brad Brownell was amazingly calm after winning a nail-biter 65-64 against Green Bay.

In the span of 26 seconds Wright State came within hair of blowing a four point lead and losing.
In that short 26 second time frame Wright State's Scott Grote made two free throws to put Wright State up 63-59. Green Bay brought the ball down and Ryan Tillema was fouled by Todd Brown and made both free throws. The score was 63-61.

DAYTON - On the night that Todd Brown scored his 1000th point, he also led his team with 21 points as his Wright State Raiders beat University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 70-60.

With Wright State down 32-27 at the half and Brown with just six points, it looked like Milwaukee was in the driver's seat. It took the Raider's until the 15:06 mark to tie up the game on a jumper by Scott Grote after a feed from Brown to make it 39-39.

Next for Wright State (17-12, 11-6 HL) was a 3-pointer by Troy Tabler, then another by Brown and the Raiders never trailed again.

Butler Tops Wright St, Snaps Nutter Center Losing Streak

February 8th, 2009

DAYTON - Take a cold-shooting team, hobble by injuries and match them against a ranked team that comes out shooting lights-out and it will result in a lop-sided contest.

That is what 9735 fans saw at the Nutter Center tonight as Butler beat Wright State 69-51.

Cold-shooting was an understatement for Wright State. Their three guards were a combined 0-22 for the game. The team shot a measly 26.7 percent (16-60) and just 17.6 percent (3-16) from 3-point land. At no time did Wright State lead in the game.

Wright State 68 - Valparaiso 58

February 6th, 2009

DAYTON – When two offensively challenged basketball teams shoot under 40 percent for the game one of the teams is going to win ugly and tonight it was Wright State. They played a little less ugly than Valparaiso as they won 68-58 in front of 5618 fans at the Ervin J. Nutter Center.

But it took a lot of effort for the Raiders to pull this win out.
With Valpo up 28-27 at halftime the Raider’s defense gave up a 3-pointer to Urule Igbavboa to go down by four points at 31-27. Less than a minute later Igbavaboa put in a layup to increase the Crusader lead to 33-27.
