Rob Carpentier's "Seven Day Stretch" is a whirlwind tour around every corner of college basketball nation:
Seven Day Savior (Team): California
Editor's Early Preview (9/15):
West Virginia's chance to make a splash on the national scene was hurt when Ruoff and Mazzulla were forced to miss their NYC affair with Davidson. Still, the Mountaineers have a great chance to return to the NCAA Tournament. Miami won't be able to make it as an at-large team, but they're a very dangerous squad.. especially when their 3 point shots are falling. These are two of the country's most well-coached teams.

DAYTON - In the past two years the Miami-Wright State games have been decided by a total of two points resulting in two Raider wins. This year the anticipated tight game never materialized as Miami's defense frustrated Wright State to win 55-37 in front of 5517 fans.
Wright State's defense was good holding Miami to just 37.5 (18-48) from the field, but Miami's defense was incredible locking down the Raiders to 26.5 just percent (13-49) from the field.
Four games are on the schedule before Saturday, with the big one being an ACC Coastal showdown between #23 Miami (7-3, 4-2) and Georgia Tech (7-3, 4-3). The Hurricanes, currently in the driver's seat in the division, need a win to keep that status since North Carolina lurks just one game behind in the standings. And with the Heels due to take on NC State and Duke to end the season, a loss here could essentially hand the division to a Carolina team that has already defeated Miami and Georgia Tech.
Another week another set of midweek games from the MAC, with the first featuring an undefeated Ball State team looking to work its way into the BCS. But with games remaining against Central Michigan and Western Michigan the Cardinals will have a hard enough time winning the MAC West let alone going undefeated. But tonight brings a trip to Oxford to take on the Redhawks of Miami (OH), who find themselves in the middle of a heated battle for the MAC East.
