Arizona Officially Announces Succession Plan
TUCSON, Ariz.—A succession plan for the head basketball coach position at the University of Arizona was announced tody, with Athletic Director Jim Livengood designating Kevin O’Neill to succeed Hall of Famer Lute Olson when Olson’s tenure as head coach concludes.

Arizona Inks Four, Including Brandon Jennings
TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona interim men’s basketball coach Kevin O’Neill announced Wednesday that four student-athletes have signed National Letters-of-Intent to attend the school and play basketball. The quartet will report to the school in the fall of 2008.
Brandon Jennings, Brendon Lavender, Emmanuel Negedu and Jeff Withey each inked letters-of-intent during the first day of the November early signing period. Three of the players are ranked among the top 15 nationally at his position. The class was rated as No. 7 nationally by rivals.com.
Lute Olson Out For Now: Takes a Leave of Absence
TUCSON--University of Arizona athletics director Jim Livengood announced today that head men's basketball coach Lute Olson has requested and been given a leave of absence due to a personal matter.
Assistant coach Kevin O'Neill will handle the coach's duties in his absence, Livengood said, for as yet an unspecified time period.
"Lute asked for a leave of absence after yesterday’s football game,” said Livengood. “Every intention is that he will be back. We will do whatever is in the best interested of Lute and Christine.”
