Video of Brandon Jennings in Europe

One of the big storylines of the 2008-2009 NBA season will play out on the Mediterranean, starring two players who are not in the NBA at all. If Josh Childress succeeds in Athens, and Brandon Jennings succeeds in Rome, then the NCAA/NBA pipeline to global supremacy has a new threat -- even for top American players. Both turned their backs on cherry assignments from the American system to stake out new territory in Europe. This season we learn if history will judge each as footnotes, or as pioneers of a new international movement to thwart the various inefficiencies of the American system. Many predicted doom for Jennings in particular. But in the footage of his first scrimmage, he seems to be doing perfectly well -- even managing to split the double team with a nifty behind-the-back dribble. It ends up a little out of control, but he has plenty of room to corral the rock and dish a nice assist.
