Georgetown Loses Again: Box Score of the Day
CHN now features a live scoreboard, stats, standings, etc.. here. Occasionally, we'll be featuring a box score of the day, with some commentary on why the box score is interesting. It might be involve a huge upset, a big personal effort, some odd statistical occurrences, or other intriguing tidbit.
Box Score of the Day:
Today's pick is.. Cincinnati's 65-57 win over Georgetown.
Since the Duke/Wake finish is our Clip of the Day.. I thought I'd mix it up and go with a Big East game as today's feature Box. The Big East is proving to the Beast of a league everyone was expecting. The two big casualties so far: Notre Dame & Georgetown. The Hoyas have now lost 4 straight and 6 of 8. Up until recently, their losses were at least against Top 25 caliber teams.. but falling to SHU and Cincy won't cut it.
Lack of depth has been an issue all season for Georgetown, but this issues has become a glaring weakness in the recent losing streak. The Hoyas bench combined for only 8 points tonight, which is the same amount as they had against Seton Hall, and 2 less than in the previous West Virginia game. If Georgetown's guards happen to have off nights, there's no one who can provide a spark and pick up the slack. (It should be noted DeJuan Summers injured his ankle and missed the 2nd half, but its not like they dominated when he played).
For Cincy, while Deonta Vaughn did his thing with 20 points, Rashad Bishop set a new career high with 9 assists to go along with 6 boards. Bishop only averages 6 ppg, but he's a solid contributor in all aspects of the game including defense.
