Jeremy Pargo: NBA Draft Profile

January 8th, 2009

Jeremy Pargo

College: Gonzaga

Class: Senior

Position: PG

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 220lbs

Accolades: WCC Player of the Year (08), First Team All-WCC (08), WCC All-Tournament Team (08), Honorable Mention All-American - AP (08), Third Team High-Major All-American - CHN (08), First Team All-WCC (07).

Scouting Report: An strong, quick, explosive point guard.

Strengths: Great NBA body - big and strong. Extremely quick. Explosive athlete. Great leaping ability. Can use his strength to back down smaller guards in the post. Very good penetrator. Good rebounder for his position. Experienced - played big minutes his last three seasons. Takes good care of the ball - good assist/turnover ratio. Great at racking up assists. Good genes - brother is NBA veteran Jannero.

Weaknesses: Will be 23-years-old before the draft. Never has really been a huge scorer in college. Plays more like a shooting guard than a point guard. Will be short for a NBA point guard - extremely short for a shooting guard. Plays erratic/out of control at times. Didn’t play in a BCS conference. Poor shooter - three-point and free throw.

Projected 2009 Draft Range: Early to mid second round pick.

Consensus: If Jeremy Pargo slips into the second round he could end up being the steal of the draft. The main key is improving his shooting touch and proving that he can run a NBA team.
