My Defensive All-America Ballot

November 12th, 2009

As a member of the FWAA (Football Writers Association of America) I get to fill out a ballot for the organization's All-America Team that will be announced in early December. Figured it would be good to post my ballots on here, opening myself up to ruthless criticism. Enjoy, and the offensive ballot will be here next week.

DL Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska
DL Terrence Cody, Alabama
DL Jerry Hughes, TCU
DL Von Miller, Texas A&M
LB Rolando McClain, Alabama
LB Lawrence Wilson, Connecticut
LB Carmen Messina, New Mexico
DB Rahim Moore, UCLA
DB Eric Berry, Tennessee
DB DeAndre McDaniel, Clemson
DB Tyler Sash, Iowa

No Brandon Spikes (Florida) or Taylor Mays (USC) for me; I think other guys at their positions were more productive this season despite the fact that these are still two likely high draft picks in April. Messina leads the country with 127 tackles; you can't blame him for the Lobos being 0-9. For one guy I went back and forth on, ultimately leaving him off of the team, look to Pitt DT Mick Williams. He's been an absolute handful all season on what's been one of the nation's best defensive lines.

Lastly, Suh for Heisman.
