NBA Draft: Hassan Adams

College: Arizona

Class: Senior

Stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=11309

Position: SG

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 212lbs

Accolades: Pac 10 Conference All-Freshman Team (03), Honorable Mention All-Pac 10 (04), Honorable Mention All-Pac 10 (05), NCAA Tourney All-Chicago Regional Team (05)

Scouting Report: An athletic scorer with a rock solid physique.  Great at scoring in transition and off the dribble.  Also is a good defender who steals more than his share of passes.

Strengths: Scoring.  Adams is a scorer who can hit the pull up J or take it all the way to the rack.  Also is strong enough to be an effective post up player.  Thrives in the transition game where he can use his incredible hops to get to the rim.  He is also a strong defender who is quite a ball thief.  Strong physique and hops allows him to grab a lot of boards for a 2 guard.

Weaknesses: Outside shot.  Adams shot isn’t horrible, but it isn’t up to NBA 2 guard standards.  He is also a little short for the off guard spot in the pros.  His turnover numbers are almost equal to his amount of assists.  Has had an up and down career at Arizona, with his game really taking a step back his junior year.

Projected 2006 Draft Range: Late first round – early second round

Consensus:  Adams’ athleticism and hops should allow him to thrive on a fast breaking NBA team.  His strength and good defensive skills should also help him in the pros.  While his off court problems (arrest for disturbing the peace), lack of height and an inconsistent outside shot will hurt his draft stock, Adams should find himself on an NBA roster come next fall.
