All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention (05), All-Pac-10 (06).
Scouting Report:
Prototypical point guard with great court vision and feel for the game.
Strengths:
Great vision –
can find teammates and help create scoring opportunities for them. Can
penetrate easily and dish off or find his own shot. Great leader – very
poised. Decent outside shooter. Good scorer. Decent rebounder for a
point guard. Quick hands gets him some steals.
Weaknesses:
Turnover prone –
averages close to 4 turnovers a game for his career. Needs to work on
his defensive skills. Needs to get stronger physically. Not an off the
chart athlete. Despite experienced gained in this year’s tourney, is
still a very inexperienced player.
Projected 2006 Draft
Range:
Late first round pick.
Consensus:
Farmar’s very
strong NCAA tourney play has improved his draft stock. He definitely
could use at least another year in college to work on his game, and he
will probably withdraw his name from the draft. Still, with this being
a weak draft for point guards, and Farmar having very solid point guard
skills, maybe this is the year for him to go pro.
