Scouting Report:
A skilled big man with a
nice touch around the basket. Also has a decent mid range jumper.
Isn’t very athletic and doesn’t get off the ground very high.
Strengths:
Scoring in the post. He uses his big frame well to ward off defenders
and get to the line. Also is a good spot up jump shooter. Uses his
size and strength to grab a fair share of rebounds.
Weaknesses:
Athleticism – isn’t extremely mobile of quick. Doesn’t jump very well
and doesn’t block any shots at all. Is a little mechanical with his
post moves sometimes. Has been plagued by inconsistent play throughout
his college career.
Projected 2006 Draft Range:
late lottery – late
first round.
Consensus:
With his size, nice touch and experience Davis should be a
first round pick. He should have a decent NBA career, however, his lack
of NBA athleticism and “ups” will limit his impact.
