Notre Dame Loses Again: Box Score of the Day
Box Score of the Day:
Today's pick is.. Marquette's 71-64 win over Notre Dame.
In the midst of one of the hardest stretches of games any team will face this season, Notre Dame isn't living up to the task. This was their 4th loss in a row, and their reward for playing 4 Top 15 teams in a row is to head to Pittsburgh to face the #3 Panthers next.
When you look at ND's box scores, Luke Harangody's numbers are amazingly consistent. Today, he poured in 29 points and 17 boards.. the 14th time this season he's gone for 20 and 10 (out of 17 tries.) But what happened to his supporting cast? In the four-loss streak, Tory Jackson is shooting 31% (14-45).. and he might be their 2nd best player right now. Not good. Kyle McAlarney runs hot and cold, while Ryan Ayers has lost his mojo (or whatever of it he had to begin the season with). Since 2009 began, Ayers is a shockingly poor 14 of 50 from the field (28%). This comes after he shot 51% in November and December. Add in the fact that Luke Zeller has managed to regress, and Zach Hillesland disappears for long stretches and you have yourself a bona fide slump that Notre Dame might not be able to recover from.
