Mailk Hairston Signs with Oregon

The Oregon Ducks received their biggest news to date on their already impressive recruiting class of 2004.

Malik Hairston, a McDonald’s High School All American out of Renaissance High School in Detroit, Michigan, signed with the University of Oregon today.  He had narrowed his choices down to Kansas and Oregon, but was also considering jumping straight to the NBA.  Oregon fans will be delighted to land one of the top 10 players in the nation.

Hairston, a 6’6 shooting guard, averaged 22 points per game in his senior year.

Hairston’s signing finishes off what was already one of -- if not the – best recruiting classes in school history.  He will join the already impressive group of Marty Leunen, Chamberlain Oguchi, Bryce Taylor and newly acquired juco transfer Kenny Love.

Head Coach Ernie Kent is thrilled at Hairston’s late decision, giving Kent the speed and quickness and perhaps most importantly – the depth – to compete for the PAC 10 championship in 2004-2005.
