Stephen Curry - Davidson

CollegeHoops.net's Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team is dominated by a pair of impressive guards: Stephen Curry and Patrick Mills. Not surprisingly, Curry was a unanimous pick amongst all of our voters for Mid-Major Player of the Year honors. Besides Curry and Mills, other returning 2007-08 Collegehoops.net Mid-Major All-Americans include Lester Hudson (2nd Team last year), Al Fisher (3rd Team), and Ryan Wittman (3rd Team).

The CollegeHoops.net All-American teams are voted on by staff writers. Coming up soon is CHN's Preseason All-Freshman team.

Am I missing something?

I saw the headline Preseason Mid-Major All Americans, and I clicked on it expecting Eric Maynor to be first team... certainly I thought it would be an insult if he was on the second team. He does not even get honorable mention here. What gives?

Maynor

Maynor isn't listed because if you go take a look at the High Major All-American list he is on that one on the first team. They chose to list VCU and other upper "mid-majors" on that list.

Jarvis is a stud!

Thanks for recognizing Jarvis! That guy can flat out play. Hopefully he can help take ORU to their fourth straight NCAA Tournament!

Marqus Blakely as a second team all american

How is Marqus Blakely second team? All these dudes are scrubs, its Stephen Curry and then Marqus, Tennessee Martin? is that a community college?

Let me tell you about Marqus Blakely

Marqus Blakely went to the virgin Islands and when he came back they were just called the islands.

Thoughts on Mid-Major All-American list

Marqus Blakely on the Second Team? I guess they haven't seen him play. Congrats to Marqus and Mike for their selection to the All-American list. Go Vermont!

DIOR LOWHORN

I live in the bay area so I get to go out to alot of the Santa Clara, USF, St Marys, Stanford, CAL games and overall I cant get over what a force Lowhorn is on the WCC. He was on the last years honorable mention and this year yet again only honorable mention. (how is he below players that werent even on any of the lists last year?) This power forward averaged 20.5 pts a game and 7.8 rbds last season, constantly double teamed. I cant wait to see what he brings to the table this season.

On another note, J. Bryant is a force to be reckon with! He can block shots and is unstopable in the post!

good catch

Good catch about Lowhorn in terms of last year's list.. a couple of guys didn't move up either, ryan wittman at cornell for example. gnyo pomare even dropped. hard to say why, there are some new voters, but a lot of the same back. the siena guys got a lot more respect this time than last year as did some of the younger guys like matt howard.

Josh Mayo

The senior is the picked as the Preseason Horizon League POY and Matt Howard and J'Nathan Bullock are on the 1st and 2nd teams and he's not even an honorable mention? What gives? He's definitely proving his stock right now at 21 ppg.

the way he's been shootign

the way he's been shootign so far (54% from three), he'll play himself unto this list no doubt.

dale, wittman, cornell

Louis Dale can really play. He's not your typical mid-major guard. He can compete with anyone in the country. He's a scorer, a passer, and he does it through the offense that is very good around him. Ryan Wittman is an elite shooter with size. I'm really impressed with Cornell. They have great balance. They have good guard play with Geoff Greeves and Adam Gore and some nice bigs, one of them being 7 footer Jeff Foote who has really improved. This group going along with Dale and Wittman make them a premiere mid-major who can play with anyone in the nation. Watch for them to make some serious noise in the NCAA Tournament.
