Carl Landry: NBA Draft Profile
NBA Draft: Carl Landry
(no stars)
College: Purdue
Class: Senior
Stats: ESPN.com
Position: PF
Height: 6’7”
Weight: 252lbs
Accolades: First Team All-Big 10 – coaches (07), Second Team All-Big 10 – media (07), Second Team All-Big 10 – coaches and media (05), First Team Junior College All-American (04).
Scouting Report: An experienced, scrappy power player.
Strengths: Strong physique. Very good low post scorer – uses his strength well and has decent moves. Can absorb contact and still score. Finishes strong – attacks the rim. Can dribble drive past his man and get to the rim. Good rebounder.
Weaknesses: Injury prone – missed half of freshman JUCO season with a broken hand, missed the last three games of junior year with a torn ACL and missed all but five games in 05/06 due to an injured knee. Will already be 24-years-old in September. Has the bulk but not the height for the power forward spot in the NBA. Not a three-point threat and too heavy to play the small forward slot. Very turnover prone.
Projected 2007 Draft Range: Mid second round pick – undrafted.
Consensus: Landry’s size, or lack there of, will be a big detriment in the NBA. If he is too have any chance making it in the League he will have to develop more of a small forward’s game and body (or grow three inches).
