Games of the Night
A companion to our daily Three Stars of the Day, we present the top three Games of the Night.
#6 Georgetown (13-1) at #16 Pittsburgh (14-2)
7:00 PM ESPN
TIf this were a couple weeks ago, I'd have picked Pitt as the winner. But without Fields, and to a lesser extent Cook, Pitt is not the same team. With that said, I think their style of play and the inside toughness of Blair gives the Panthers a good shot to pull off an upset (at least compared to other Top 10 teams right now.) Still, I have to go with Georgetown winning a close one.
Gonzaga (12-4) at Pepperdine (6-11)
Like Georgetown at Pitt, good games always feature the more talented team going on the road (unlike the game below). This game will be televised on ESPN so the Pepperdine crowd should be pretty pumped up, but the talent gap between these teams will be too much too overcome. Still, I'll be there so that makes it worthy to be on the Games of the Day list.
Oklahoma (12-4) at #3 Kansas (16-0)
9:00 PM ESPN
The only reason this game makes it is because none of the other SWAC and MEAC games are very exciting. Kansas has been rolling of late, and are beating teams by an average of 24 ppg on the season. The Sooners aren't bad.. but if they can't beat Kansas State at home then they have little chance of beating Kansas on the road.
