Games of the Night: Purdue at Indiana

February 19th, 2008

A companion to our daily Three Stars of the Day, we present the top three Games of the Night.

#15 Purdue (21-5) at #14 Indiana (21-4)

7:00 PM ESPN

The three way battle (sorry MSU, you're done) for 1st in the Big Ten continues tonight as upstart Purdue takes on Indiana. The key here is DJ White's knee, as he injured it during IU's win over Michigan State. With a healthy White, Indiana would enter the game as healthy 5 point favorites, but the line is shrinking. Purdue keeps exceeding everyone's expectations, including the bettors, as they're 11-1 ATS in the last 12 games. Still, I like the Hoosiers behind Eric Gordon.. who seems to have broken out of a mini-slump.

Prediction: Indiana

Baylor (17-7) at Oklahoma (17-8)

8:00 PM

The only other game tonight featuring two probable NCAA Tournament teams. A 10 seed at a 9 seed going by my latest Tournament projection. Baylor might not be a lock though, as they're in the midst of a rough stretch where they've lost 5 of 6 games.. and then face a tough Kansas State squad next. The Sooners won the last meeting in Waco, and should be able to win a heated affair tonight.

Prediction: Oklahoma

Akron (18-7) at Miami (13-11)

7:30 PM

Slim pickings for the 3rd game tonight as the rest of the schedule features a lot of lopsided matchups. Akron's not out of the MAC title race yet (trailing Kent State by 2 games) and Miami's been on a tear. The Redhawks have had a wacky season, starting off on fire, then losing their first 5 conference games, before running off wins in 6 of their last 7. Junior Kenny Hayes has really emerged as a quality scorer for Miami, and now that Michael Bramos has regained his long-distant touch, this is a very dangerous team right now.

Prediction: Miami
