For the 14th time in his illustrious career, Oral Roberts University senior forward Caleb Green has been named Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Green earns Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row after leading ORU to a 2-1 record and being named to the all-tournament team at the BYU Holiday Classic.
He started the week with a 30-point, six-rebound performance against Seton Hall and scored the game-winning free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining. In a loss at BYU, he finished with his seventh double-double of the season and 53rd of his career - 21 points and 13 rebounds. Green closed out the week with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists in a rout of Liberty.
During the victory over BYU, he pulled down his 1,000th career rebound to make him the first player in Mid-Con history and third ORU player with 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Green is also the 95th player in NCAA history to achieve the feat.
Green is currently the NCAA's active career scoring leader with 2,092 points, eight points ahead of Nevada's Nick Fazekas. Green also leads active players in career free throws made and attempted, and ranks second to Fazekas in career rebounds with 1,010.
ORU opens defense of its consecutive Mid-Con regular season titles when the Golden Eagles host Western Illinois, 7:05 p.m., Thursday at Mabee Center.
