Scott Grote to Leave Duquesne Program
PITTSBURGH – Head men’s basketball coach Ron Everhart announced today that freshman guard/forward Scott Grote (Centerville, Ohio/Massanutten (Va.) Military Academy) has received his release from Duquesne University, clearing the way for his transfer to another school.
“Scott informed me that he decided it would be best for him to continue his college career at a different school and we honored his request,” said Everhart. “I informed Scott that we were only interested in players who wanted to be with us here at Duquesne. I wish him the best.”
The 6-6 Grote averaged 9.9 points and 4.1 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game this past season. He started 22 times and was one of four players to see action in all 29 games. Grote finished the season third on the team in assists (63) and steals (34). His 34 3-pointers were the seventh-most ever by a DU freshman.
Duquesne will now return four starters, including nine of the top ten scorers from last season’s 10-19 team, Everhart’s first as head coach of the Dukes.
