SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mike Mercer, Georgia

* Mercer scored a team-high 18 points to lead Georgia to an 87-86 win at
Wake Forest in Georgia's first road game of the season.
* Fifteen of those points came in the second half, and Mercer scored 11
of those 15 points during a three and a half minute stretch.
* Mercer played just six minutes of the first half after picking up two
early fouls.
* He also totaled four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block
while shooting 8-of-14 from the field.
* Mercer has led Georgia in scoring throughout the early season.

SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Ben Hansbrough, Mississippi State
G * 6-3 * 200 * Fr. * Poplar Bluff, Mo.

* Hansbrough helped lead the Bulldogs to home wins over Charlotte and
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week.
* He established season highs for points (23), assists (8) and steals
(3) in his first collegiate start during Saturday's win over TAMUCC.
* Hansbrough made 6-of-7 field goals, 5-of-6 treys and 6-of-6 from the
line, while playing 29 minutes of turnover-free basketball.
* He began the week, totaling 15 points, six rebounds and three assists
in 30 minutes of turnover-free basketball off the Bulldog bench in
Wednesday's win over Charlotte.
