Scouting Report: An experienced, efficient shooting guard.

Strengths: Great shooter. Has three-point range - hit over 350 three-pointers for his career. Extremely efficient - shoots for an outrageously high % from the field for a wing player. Active player - always moving on the court - good at moving without the ball. Nice length for a guard. Superb free throw shooter. Very good rebounder for his position. Good passer. Smart and crafty player. Takes good care of the ball. Very mature and experienced. Very versatile - can help a team in many different ways - passing, rebounding, scoring, etc.

Weaknesses: 24-years-old already. Lacks “upside”. Didn’t play in a BCS conference. Needs to get bigger/stronger for the NBA. Not an NBA-level athlete. Seemed to wear down at the end of his senior year - only shot 40% from the field over his last 10 games. Will have trouble creating his own shot in the NBA. Will struggle guarding quick/strong NBA wing players.

Projected 2009 Draft Range: Mid to late second round pick.

Consensus: Lee Cummard’s shooting touch and heady play will probably get him a shot at the NBA. How much his lack of athleticism and strength holds him back will be the key factor in whether or not he enjoys a long NBA career.

LEE CUMMARD

BYU's senior leader is easily the best player no one's ever heard of. The 6-7 Cummard averages 19 ppg, on a ridiculously efficient 62% shooting, including 48% from downtown. He can even pass the ball and rebound as well. Look for him to be a major sleeper in this summer's Draft.
