Saint Louis Signs Mike McCall

Saint Louis University head men's basketball coach Rick Majerus
today announced that 6-foot-1 guard Mike McCall (Chicago, Ill./Foreman)
has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and
play basketball for the Billikens. McCall will have four years of
eligibility beginning with the 2010-11 academic year.

"Mike will remind our fans of Kwamain Mitchell
when Kwamain first came into our program," Majerus said. "Mike is
extremely quick, has an excellent jump shot and, most importantly, is a
winner. It would not surprise me to see Foreman win the Illinois state
championship. He has the eye of the tiger and the athletic ability as
well as the skills to back it up.

"Any conversation about Mike begins with what a great family he
has," Majerus said. "His sister, Angel, graduated from Northern
Illinois University, so obviously there is a great academic influence
in the home. Mike comes to Saint Louis University as an outstanding
student. The conversation then turns to perhaps one of the finest
coaches in the state of Illinois, Terry Head. Mike is fundamentally
sound and a great competitor, and he understands how to play the game
because of Coach Head."

McCall is the No. 6 senior in the state of Illinois according
to ChicagoHoops.com, and he is ranked by Hoops Report as a "Top 10
Prospect." As a junior, he averaged 14.3 points, five assists, 2.9
rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. McCall helped lead Foreman to a 20-7
record. He hit at least one 3-pointer in all but one game last season
and converted 44 percent from beyond the arc. Against North Grand,
McCall drained seven 3-pointers en route to a season-high 25 points.

"Both young men (Dwayne Evans and Mike McCall) whom we have
signed will make significant contributions to our program," Majerus
said. "We feel that they will be an upgrade in talent, and we are
confident they will do extremely well as students and become SLU
favorites due to their personality and academic acumen as well as for
the skill set and hustle they bring to the court. They are already good
friends and it is easy to see why, given their love for the game and
competitive spirit."
