MAAC Tournament Schedule

Before getting into the happenings on the final day of the regular season, there were some excellent articles on Iona's late athletic trainer J.B. Buono that I would like to pass along.

With the regular season in the MAAC now complete, we know the matchups for next weekend's conference tournament at the Times Union Center in Albany. Siena and Niagara are the top two seeds, meaning that they'll find out their quarterfinal opponent on Friday night. All games up to the semifinals can be seen on MAAC TV (ESPN Full Court will carry the games as well), with the championship game slated to tip at 9 PM on ESPN2 next Monday. Beloware the matchups for the first round and quarters; look for in-depth previews later in the week. 

First Round (Friday)

#8 Loyola (MD) vs. #9 Canisius, 7:30 PM

Season Series: Split two games. Loyola 86-62 (January 3rd at Canisius); Canisius 69-67 (February 16th at Loyola).

#7 Iona vs. #10 Marist, 9:30 PM

Season Series: Split two games. Marist 51-50 (December 5th at Marist); Iona 66-65 (OT) (February 7th at Iona).

Quarterfinals (Saturday)

#4 Manhattan vs. #5 Fairfield, 2:30 PM

Season Series: Split two games. Manhattan 65-60 (January 26th at Manhattan); Fairfield 56-55 (February 27th at Fairfield).

#1 Siena vs. Loyola/Canisius winner, 5 PM

Season Series: Siena swept both. Against Loyola, Siena won 75-68 (December 3rd at Loyola) and 73-60 (February 3rd at Siena). Against Canisius, the Saints won 91-73 (January 29th at Siena) and 78-74 (March 1st at Canisius). 

#2 Niagara vs. Iona/Marist winner, 7:30 PM

Season Series: Niagara split with both the Gaels and Red Foxes. Against Iona: Iona 71-65 (January 15th at Niagara); Niagara 65-53 (February 2nd at Iona). Against Marist: Marist 86-68 (January 11th at Marist); Niagara 80-72 (March 1st at Niagara). 

#3 Rider vs. #6 St. Peter's, 10 PM

Season Series: Split two games. Rider 78-67 (January 25th at St. Peter's); St. Peter's 65-64 (February 13th at Rider).
