Mid-Season Horizon League Awards: Part I

We’re set to start the second half of Horizon League play but before the games get started, let’s take a look at Part I of the Butler Ugroup’s “Mid-Season Horizon League Award’s Show” presented by The Snuggie (as seen on TV!).

Today, we’ll announce our Mid-Season All-Horizon League teams and the coveted Mid-Season HL Player of the Year. Tomorrow, look for our Mid-Season All-Newcomer Teams and Mid-Season Newcomer of the Year selections.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at this mid-season’s winners…

Butler Ugroup Mid-Season HL Player of the Year: Matt Howard (Butler)

G Josh Mayo UIC ppg 16.7 reb 2.7, ast 3.6
The HL Pre-Season Player of the Year ranks second in the league in scoring.
G Ryan Tillema Green Bay ppg 17.0, reb 4.4, ast 1.7
Tillema took over the HL scoring lead after dropping 36 points on 9-11 3’s at Valpo.
F Gordon Hayward Butler ppg 12.7, reb 6.4, ast 1.9
Hayward is the only HL player who ranks in the “Top 10” in the league in nine different categories.
F J'Nathan Bullock Cleveland State ppg 15.9, reb 7.0, ast 1.5
Bullock hasn’t disappointed on the league’s most disappointing team.
F Matt Howard Butler ppg 13.5, reb 6.7, ast 1.0
Our mid-season top player is the best player on the best team.

Butler Ugroup Mid-Season All-HL: Second Team

G Cedric Jackson Clev St ppg 9.9 reb 5.4, ast 5.6
Jackson ranks fourth in the nation in steals (3.0) and first in the HL in assists.
G Shelvin Mack BU ppg 13.1, reb 3.8, ast 3.9
Butler’s other freshman phenom is capable of scoring in bunches.
G JR Blount Loyola ppg 14.8, reb 4.0, ast 3.6
The Ramblers best player has one of the quickest first steps in the conference.
G Tone Boyle UWM ppg 14.8, reb 3.7, ast 1.4
The newcomer is third in conference-only scoring behind Bullock and Tillema.
F Todd Brown WSU ppg 9.1, reb 4.9, ast 1.2
Brown has led the defensive-minded Raiders to 10 wins in 11 games after a 0-6 start.
