Washington Wins Ninth in a Row: Box Score of the Day
CHN now features a live scoreboard, stats, standings, etc.. here. Occasionally, we'll be featuring a box score of the day, with some commentary on why the box score is interesting. It might be involve a huge upset, a big personal effort, some odd statistical, occurrences, or other intriguing tidbit.
Box Score of the Day:
Today's pick is.. Washington's 84-83 win over Stanford.
Ranked in the Top 50 start the season by CHN, the Huskies came out of the gate slowly with a 2-3 record and dropped out of our weekly ranking. But in large part due to the emergence of freshmen star Isaiah Thomas (no, not the one who destroys franchises and lives), the Huskies have 9 in a row and have to be considered a dangerous team in a down Pac-10. So far, their 2 league wins have come at Washington State and vs Stanford.. not exactly ground-breaking wins, but a victory over Cal this weekend would go along way to rebuilding their lost respect.
The key stat below: rebounding.. where Brockman and crew outrebounded the Cards 41-25. This led to the extra chances that overcame Stanford's better overall offensive execution. Thomas, with 18 last night, is now averaging over 20 ppg in his last three games.
